Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD); we produce a scaled shop drawing that clearly pinpoints the exact placement of the tapered insulation panels. This helps to ensure proper panel placement in order to achieve the desired slope, drainage, and R-value. Whether from our own database of construction plans and specifications or a contractor provided roof layout, our tapered department has the information, expertise, and technology to accurately produce a tapered insulation system design that will help achieve a high level of quality and provide for a long life of the finished roof system.
Depending upon the roofing system (BUR, Single-ply, etc.), we estimate varying types of insulation from expanded perlite, polyisocyanurate (ISO), expanded polystyrene (EPS), extruded polystyrene (XEPS), and wood fiber. The slope of tapered perlite, ISO and XEPS is estimated from as little as 1/8″ slope-per-foot to as much as 1/2″ slope-per-foot in a single layer.
These types of insulation are stair-stepped with flat insulation to achieve a constant slope. Tapered EPS is available in single-layer thicknesses of up to 24″, without limits to the slope-per-foot.
